55-45 at Work – The Bludger of the Survey
Anthony Albanese levels up on the preferred prime minister as Labor maintains its lead in voting intentions.
As reported in The Australian, the latest bi-monthly Newspoll records no change for either major party on voting intention, with Labor maintaining a 55-45 lead on bipartisan preferences and 41%-35% on the primary vote. For smaller parties, the Greens are down one point at 8%, One Nation is flat at 3% and the United Australia Party is down 1-3%, with all others up 2-10% . Anthony Albanese equalized Scott Morrison for the preferred premiership for the first time since Morrison’s post-bushfire nadir in February 2020 at 42-42, after Morrison led 42-40 last time out. Morrison’s approval rating is down two to 41% with disapproval stable at 55%, while Anthony Albanese is stable at 44% and down one to 42%, respectively. The survey was conducted from Wednesday to Saturday with a sample of 1520.
