According to Riordan, the team is looking to choose an actor capable of “playing 12”. The plan is to age the character as the series progresses through its five seasons – based on the five books it is based on – assuming the series is so lucky. The series also seeks to play the main character Grover the Satyr and Annabeth Chase, daughter of the Greek goddess of wisdom and war, Athena. However, these molding processes have not yet started. Riordan said those decisions would be based in part on choosing the show as Percy.

Riordan also stressed that the casting call is not ethnicity specific and that “we are looking for the best person who can play the character we all know and love from the books.” The casting team will follow Disney’s corporate policy, which states, “We are committed to providing a diverse and inclusive cast. For each role, please submit qualified performers, regardless of disability, gender, race. and ethnicity, age, color, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other basis prohibited by law. ”

Written by Riordan, Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a five-book series that follows the adventures of Percy Jackson, the half-son of the Greek sea god, Poseidon, as he battles the forces of the Titan Kronos with his allies at Camp Half-Blood, a camp summer for the demigods. Throughout the series, he meets heroes and villains from Greek mythology, including the Minotaur, Oracle, Atlas, Daedalus, Hades, Zeus, and Area, among others.

The books have sold hundreds of thousands of copies and spawned several sequel book series and spinoffs. The heroes of Olympus continues the story of Percy and his friends, and introduces the Roman counterparts to the Greek gods, while The Chronicles of Kane and Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard are based on Egyptian and Norse mythologies respectively.

This won’t be the first time Percy Jackson has been portrayed in live action. Logan Lerman played the role of the hero in Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and its sequel, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. Both enjoyed moderate box office success, but received mixed reviews for straying from the books.
