Stephanie Beatriz, Gabriel Iglesias & Allen Maldonado on Maya and the Three


With Maya and the Three Now streaming on Netflix, I recently had the chance to talk to the star Gabriel Iglesias, Allen Maldonado and Stephanie Béatriz on the expression of their characters. During the interview, they explained where they get their inspiration for their characters, trusting the script, how Iglesias wanted merchandising based on his character and more.

Maya and the Three is one of the most amazing and awesome animation projects of the year. A fantasy epic with breathtaking visuals, a world of its own in realms and gods, and also a rather moving story of a girl taking charge of her destiny. This Netflix animation event is also a rare project with a Latinx cast, created by a Mexican filmmaker, and on Mesoamerican culture. The miniseries follows the titular Maya, an Aztec warrior princess who learns that she is part of a prophecy that could bring doom to mankind, but decides to rebel against her and prove that there is a Another sense to her fate, as she fights a vengeful god of war with three mighty warriors from across Latin America.

The fantasy epic boasts and awesome vocal cast of legendary Latinx talents, including Zoe Saldaña, Diego Luna, Gael García Bernal, Alfred Molina, Kate del Castillo, Danny Trejo, Cheech Marin, Rosie Perez, Queen Latifah, Wyclef Jean, Jorge R. Gutiérrez, Sandra Equihua, Isabela Merced, Chelsea Rendon, Joaquín Cosío, Carlos Alazraqui, and Rita Moreno.
